Science Reporter is a monthly science magazine that has been published in India since 1964 by National Institute of Science Communication And Information Resources (NISCAIR), New Delhi, a constituent institution of CSIR India. The Science Reporter is read principally in India and neighboring countries. It is published in English. It is aimed at a wide age range, but is especially focussed towards school students. It was launched with the objective of making the people of India aware of scientific and technological developments.
The focus of Science Reporter is exchanging ideas about the state of science; matters of science policy, and discussing the future course of science in India. It attempts to make the content of foreign scientific journals available to students in India. It aims to be a comprehensive source of information, which helps south Asian students of science not only during competitive exams but also throughout their careers mainly because many articles published in Science Reporter are authored by eminent Indian scientists. It aims to encourage upcoming science writers by guiding them editorially.
Each issue of Science Reporter contains a mixed package of humour, science fiction, puzzles and crosswords, science projects, and columns covering science topics such as natural events, computing, the Environment, bio-engineering, satellite launches and space exploration, often focusing on notable events such as the Human Genome Project. |
